Finding Happiness

We have all seen articles and stories about many people who seem to have it all fumble and in some way self-destruct. We are always surprised because we think the lifestyles of the rich and famous should include some sort of perspective that helped them get to where they are or were in the first place. When it comes down to explaining what happened, the person simply wasn’t happy, no longer knew who they were and got lost chasing what they thought would make them happy, but it didn’t work. Why is happiness so allusive? What creates happiness and once happiness is achieved, what sustains it?

It may be no surprise to you that although financial prosperity overall has grown in the United States, with some ups and downs along the way. Happiness levels have stayed at about the same level. As people have gained financially, they haven’t gained the knowledge needed to be happier. They buy the next great thing, or go on the next trip to paradise, and although they enjoyed those things in the moment, gradually, or not so gradually the good feelings dissolve. This doesn’t have to happen to you because I can give you the keys to happiness right here, and it is relatively simple.

There are two main keys to happiness, and it isn’t about buying something new. It also isn’t about a trip to paradise. It is about what you take into consideration when making everyday choices and how you design your everyday lifestyle. Happiness can be long lasting, and while not every day is going to be lived on an emotional high, you can be satisfied with most days of your life and maintain a sense of fulfillment each and every day. You just need to apply these two keys.

The first key is aligning your life with your core values. Your core values are who you are deep down in your soul. They are not about the job you choose, the roles you fulfill in life, or who you are to other people, such as mother, son, uncle, sister, etc. It is just the opposite, if you choose your job or career in alignment with your core values you will love what you do. If you develop the roles you fulfill in life in alignment with your core values, you will live with satisfaction. If you love those who love you, such as friends and family in alignment with your core values, your boundaries will be in place and your relationships will meet more of your needs and you will meet more of the needs of those you love without so much effort.

I have a tool to help you discover your core values. It is called the Tru Values Program. Click the link here to download a complimentary copy. http://www.livethelifeyoulove.com/tru-values-program/

The Tru values Program will help you to find your four core values and begin to align your life with your them.

The second key to happiness sounds way too simple and easy to work. There has been a ton of research and articles written about this key in the psychology community. There have even been books written about this, but you really don’t need to read a book to try this. The second key is to meditate daily. Besides a timer and a floor to sit on, you do not need anything to meditate. Meditation is very simple and takes very little time. You begin by trying to meditate just fifteen, yes, just 15 minutes a day.

Meditation calms your mind and brings you a sense of inner peace. It helps you wade through all the daily noise and brings you to the core of yourself. Meditation connects you to your true self, your spirit. It allows you to let go of all those negative narratives you have going through your mind and replace them with self-confidence. Mediation brings you answers to the questions you were struggling with to know what to ask. Meditation connects you to your inner vibration of energy. It enhances your energy and your emotional wellbeing.

If you download the Tru Values Program and start living your life in alignment with your 4 core values, and meditate for just 15 minutes daily, you will start to see improvement in your overall level of happiness in just a few days.

Here is why those who seem to have it all, flounder around in their lives and self-destruct. You need to know not to fall in this trap. They are gaining success and trying to find happiness by living for the next emotional high. Emotional highs can become an addiction. If you try to buy happiness through things, then you will always need to go buy the next greatest thing. If you try to buy happiness through trips then you will always be seeking an emotional high by trying to get away from your life and lifestyle. If you are trying to buy happiness through friendships and therefore always throwing parties and providing for your friends in some way, you will never be able to trust or rely on those friendships and you will never have true loving connections to people you care about and who care about you. In fact, the day you stop being the one buying is the day you see that crowd that has been surrounding you disappear. There might be a few who take longer to catch on that you stopped buying, but then those lingering will disappear as well.

While it is nice to have big lavish houses and okay to set goals to get one or some, that is not what happiness is about. Designer clothes look nice, sometimes, when those who wear them have good taste, but they are not the key to happiness either. That beautiful luxury car might get you from point A to point B, but not much better than a slightly less expensive car (although for some brands the concierge service is wonderful), but driving most cars won’t bring you true happiness. The truth is, at some point you will get tired of ‘things’, and run out of room for them. What will bring you happiness is using the two keys of aligning your life to your core values and meditating. If you have doubts, just give it a try for 30 days. It doesn’t cost you anything, and can bring you the happiness you have always wanted.
